YourDailyJobSearch Email Scam
Super tricky spam tempts you to the perfect job for you.
Got an email from "News Tips for All", which enticed me to follow their link to apply for the following job:
Web Coordinator for the Medi-Cal Bulletin Jobs.
"Whoa!", I thought, "That's exactly right for me! I used to do that at my old job.. but what happened to Galileo? Did he quit? I wonder what the salary is now..."
I clicked on the link.
The in-email link led me to YourDailyJobSearch.com. There were a lot of links, but I didn't see the Medi-Cal job.
Sandwiched in between two stacks of ads, there were two results of a search for the string "Web Coordinator for the Medi-Cal Bulletin". They didn't show that actual job, they showed two jobs which were marginally related, Two Patient Resources Workers, people who determine a patient's potential eligibility to receive Medi-Cal, in Los Angeles.
The URL showed the search:
http://www.yourdailyjobsearch.com/?keywords=Web%20Coordinator%20for%20the%20Medi-Cal%20Bulletin&location=
It was a pretty neat scheme to trick me into clicking that link. Someone scraped my resume, then sent out this email based on my most recent job title, then directed me to YourDailyJobSearch.com with that same job title set as search string.
The results page ad sandwich is the worst part. People who are directed to this page are looking for their old job title, which was never here in the first place. There is good chance they are going to inadvertantly click on an ad.
I wonder how much garbage I can attract by simply posting a fake resume to job sites. I should try it.
