My Illustrated World of Warcraft Diary: Day 94 - The Switch to Dual Weapons

At some point, I think level 20, I trained for dual-weapon use. I looked at getting two swords, but found daggers with a higher damage-per-second rating. I found two which were very reasonably priced, bought them and set out to conquer the world.

My experience with a two-handed sword was that it did a lot of damage, but that it was slow. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I was trading one 18 damage per second (DPS) sword for two 10 DPS daggers. I should also mention that it made fights more fun.

Also, I had a theory that special attacks, like sunder armor, super kill, bloodletting, maim, hamstring, surgical strike, megapoke, julienne etc., would be executed faster if I had a weapon striking the target every second.

If I remember correctly, I had a Kris and a Battle Dagger of Strength. For an hour and a half, my dagger skill was increasing every minute.

During one battle joined with a small group, one of my teammates mentioned that the dual-dagger was a strange choice, and "out of class", meaning that daggers were usually a weapon favored by priests and mages. I mentioned the DPS advantage, and he was doubtful. The conversation was interrupted by a battle, but he closed with this note: "It looks pretty awesome".
