1,000 Pictures of Disneyland - Frontierland
Documenting the Landmarks and Corners of Disneyland
By Rob Cockerham |
Frontierland is a fun, thoroughly themed area of Disneyland. It is made up to look like a fort and town from an outpost during the American frontier of the 1800s to the 1880s. There are a bunch of rides, a show and attractions, but only one Fastpass-calibur thrill ride, the Thunder Mountain Railroad.
The pictures of Frontierland in Disneyland are split into eleven sections: The introduction and the streets of the town / fort, Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Shooting Gallery, Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante, the Golden Horseshoe, the sailing ship Columbia, the Mark Twain Riverboat, the Stage Door Cafe, the River Belle Restaurant, the island and the Thunder Valley Ranch.
Frontierland is wide, but it is mostly paths, with not a lot of buildings outside of the main fort/town.The gates of Frontierland, as seen from the Main Street North Circle.
Looking west into Frontierland. This gate is at the end of a little bridge over a little stream.
I don't think these gates can close. Besides being incredibly hazardous, the outer posts look like they would hit that Frontierland sign.
Inside the gate, to the left, there are benches, and ATM machine and maybe payphones in the Paymaster building.
Pioneer Mercantile. 1807. The first shop in Frontierland. The gateway south to Adventureland is visible on the left.
Next to Pioneer Mercantile is the Bonanza Outfitter store. I love how their roofs merge.
I have no idea why there would be a line at the Bonanza Outfitter. The Dry Goods store is on the right side. It doesn't have a door.
Another look into the gates.
Tiana exiting Frontierland.
A look back east at the Frontierland gateway.
Frontierland flagpole.
Mercantile and view south to Adventureland.
Inside the gate and Paymaster alcove.
The northern inside corner of the gate. A second watchtower and a cannon.
Outside the gate, the bridge out of Frontierland, where the timber fence starts.
Where the street splits in Frontierland.
Pin trading inside Frontierland.
Pin trading on barrels.
Walking west, the Rancho de Zocalo Restaurante sign.
Most construction and maintenance at Disneyland is done after hours or behind screens. They couldn't hide this crane working on the Thunder Mountain Railroad remodel.
Dry Goods Store. This is kind of a fake store, because there is no door. The adjacent store, Bonanza Outfitter, probably connects to it inside.
