After the quizshow, and after the dismal puppet-crafting segment, Robert Smigel, of Triumph, the insult comic dog and TV funhouse fame, made an appearance. In this photo, he is using his Triumph hand to hold one corner of his laptop.

The foo fighters talked with Triumph and asked him about his new comedy DVD, entitled The Best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. They played some great clips. I don't know if I know anyone that buys comedy DVDs, but this seems like a great one to have. |

Next to MTV HQ was this massive neon Mr. Peanut billboard, advertising his mixed nuts with "less than 50% nuts", a claim that is less than 50% true. |
Down the block was the Shubert Theatre, featuring Monty Python's Spamalot. |
And at the Belasco Theatre, a crowd gathered to watch Denzel Washington signing autographs outside after a production of Julius Caesar. |

Back inside the Foo Fighter's lounge, the band prepared to take the stage for their midnight show. Quite a few friends had stopped by to support them, including Claire Danes and a beautiful girl I assumed was her sister. |
At midnight, the Foo Fighters played a great set. A few favorites and a few new songs. They were really going all out, and it was incredible to be there. Jim Shearer was rocking out. He looked like he was having as much fun as I was.

One strange consequence of being at a "made for TV" concert, is that there is an audience wrangler there, asking for more and more applause at the right moments, and asking for nothing at other moments, which created at least a few awkward "aren't we supposed to be applauding now?" moments.
