Onpacemktg.com After some research online, Mark took a trip out the nice part of town. |

Now it was time for a field trip. I hopped into the trusty rusty Civic and dove head first into the rush hour traffic. Twenty minutes later I felt my pulse quicken as I was nearing the location. I swear I heard the theme from the Twilight Zone coming from somewhere too. Turning onto Pleasant Lake Road (see the map above) I was confronted with this sign: Looks like a friendly neighborhood. This was my first visit ever to North Oaks. Previously I'd only heard of it in Legends and fables. It's a ritzy neighborhood where '89 Honda Civic Hatchbacks are probably less than welcome. Check out their home page: http://www.cityofnorth-oaks.com/ Not one to be turned away so easily by a sign, I continued on in search of Red Pine Road. Just driving down the street here I got the impression I was being watched. There was nobody outside any of the houses, but there seemed to be an abnormally high concentration of Mercedes and Lexus products on the roads. |

Here's a quick snapshot of the road sign. They clearly aren't fans of the standard green or blue street signs so common everywhere else in the
Mpls-St. Paul area. I wonder how they know whether or not they live on a snow emergency route? In the background you can see the building actually located at 2 Red Pine Road, but here's the direct shot: |

I was going to go up and knock on the door, but I was a little pressed for time, so I decided that would have to wait for a return trip. Maybe I'll have to borrow my buddy's Subaru so I don't feel so strange driving up there. I guess the fact that this is the location listed in the Spam you're receiving leads me to one of two conclusions. Either whoever is actually sending the Spam just made up this address and it's an odd coincidence that it actually exists, or Spam marketing is far more lucrative than I ever imagined. That's all I've got for now. Mark Sponholz
I didn't expect to post any photos of private houses on this spam-sender's list, but now that I'm actually faced with this estate in St. Paul, I've changed my mind. Frank X. Barlow also visited, and sent a full report and a beautiful photo below |

Rob, I've found the international headquarters for Onpacemktg.com nestled at the center of a creepily sanitary planned community in a suburb of St. Paul. The Founder(s) of Onpacemktg.com--no doubt in an effort to maintain the austere suburban purity of the neighborhood--have made every effort to ensure that their corporate offices blend in with the natural surroundings. I've attached a picture. Before I go any further with this investigation, I'll need some more information from you: 1. What is the nature of the spam you've received from Onpacemktg.com? 2. Have you gotten any spam from any other "companies" using this address for mailings? 3. Are there any messages (non-threatening, of course) you'd like me to pass on to the residents of 2 Pine Rd, St. Paul, MN 55127? I've been mulling over some possible next steps, but I'm willing to take suggestions. Sincerely Frank X. Barlowe |

Laura McM. also went for a visit in the early evening, trying to catch a
shot of the nocturnal spammers during their busiest hours. |

I had a chance to check out 2 Red Pine Road in St. Paul, MN tonight, supposed home of onpacemktg.com. First of all, they are actually located in or near Shoreview, MN, which is a northern suburb of St. Paul. It looked like a residential area on the map. When I got to the development I saw a lovely Welcome sign which also said No Trespassing. It took me 20 more minutes to actually find the house inside this massive, very expensive looking development. In fact, 2 Red Pine Road is a very large house surrounded by other large houses of the "McMansion" type. Guess spamming people pays off. By that time it was getting pretty dark so the picture I got isn't very good. I will try to go back and take another picture, but I have a feeling it isn't the kind of place that welcomes strangers in crappy cars driving around taking pictures. On the way out I got a picture of the sign, too. Hope this helps! Laura |

I figured this house may not actually house the spam sender... that it might just be an address he picked out of the phone book. Laura wrote back: Well, I wouldn't be so sure that they aren't spammers. I was curious soI did a reverse lookup on the address and got the names James and Kris Parker. A little more searching and I found out that James Parker is also the registrant on bizoppfinders.com, out of an office in Arden Hills, MN (the next surburb over from Shoreview). The domain appears on quite a few blacklists. I know it doesn't prove anything, but it makes the guy look a little less innocent. Laura |
