The one in Lakeland TN takes about 10 minutes from where I live (Germantown, right outside Memphis). The Outlets are really close to a big mall called Wolfchase Galleria that also has several large stores (Best buy, Old Navy, Toys R us...) Around it. There are also more outlet shops in Tunica Mississippi, where the casinos are, but it takes about 40-50 minutes to get the

Located just outside of the town of Wytheville at the intersection of I-77 and I-81. Built in the late 80's, the outlet never took off due to the location and the layout of the outlet mall, the access road to the mall is not obvious unless you've been there before, I think a lot of people miss the turn and give up looking due to the traffic in the area. (the access road is located near a very busy truck stop) The mall is built on top of a hill, so all you do is walk up and down steps to get to the stores, which combined with the constant wind at the site can make for a very cold shopping experience.

Brand-spankin' new, lots of decent stores. A little bigger and a better layout than the Jackson Premium Outlets, which is near Six Flags Great Adventure. I live pretty much between the two centers, which makes me happy because I do love a great deal! If you build it in Jersey, they will shop.

Williamsburg's Prime Outlets is apparently consistently ranked in the top 10 shopping centers in the outlet industry (really? an industry???). With the recent addition of a Sbarro's, you know we've hit the big time. The Williamsburg Outlet Mall, on the other hand, is fairly unexciting and not worth the trip.

The Shipyard Shops are located on the Wilmington Riverfront. Take the exit for MLK Boulevard off of I-95 to get there.

15 miles outside Hyannis, which has a mall finally worth mentioning. The big draws here are 9 West, Carter's, and Corning. In short, not so much... Hey- it's Cape Cod. We're expecting tourists to show up and leave their wallets behind, so who really wants to offer up a bargain?

The entire downtown area of Freeport, Maine is essentially an outdoor mall made up of outlets. Kittery is the other (previously mentioned), and about an hour away. I live a mile from LL Bean (the cornerstone of the town) and, along with most residents, avoid downtown at all costs during the summer months. I avoid it in general, actually.

Interesting fact: Outlet stores must be positioned as not to compete with retail organizations. For instance Macy's sells a brand of clothing which is also available at an outlet store for much less. Same clothes (not imperfects as is the impression). Macy's requires a "non-compete" radius of approx 20 miles to the nearest "outlet" clothing store. SHOP OUTLETS!!
