Halloweeeen! I've got another fine costume planned for this year. A Dwight Shrute Bobblehead. If you are not familiar with the Dwight Shrute bobblehead, you are missing out. Dwight is a character on the NBC comedy "the office", and he has a bobblehead... of himself. |
The first step was to take some pictures and to use photoshop to visualize what the scale of the head would be if I used my body for Dwights. My neck could match up with his, and I'd be looking right out of his chin. |
Next, I photographed myself in the same pose with a measuring tape. A little more photoshop work revealed the proper size for the giant head: 29" across. |
The next step was to screw some pvc pipes to a backpack. I could have made my own harness, with padded shoulder straps and snap connectors, but that would have been a lot more work, and it wouldn't have been as good. I picked this one up at a second-hand store. |
Then I took a break to work on June's "Cage Fighter" Costume. Ok, it is for my costume. I think June should go as an ipod nano. |
The Backpack with hanger. |
I rounded off the top of the chicken wire cylinder and added a wooden yardarm. Attached to the backpack's mast, this R2-D2 shape could now fly about four feet above my head.
