Hans Blix started his rally driving career in 1976 with Saab 96
Until 1983 Hans competed only in Swedish rallies. His first international rally was the Lombard RAC Rally in 1984 in which he finished 3rd overall. In 1990, he became a Mitsubishi Works-driver. He won the1991 Swedish Rally and Baja Aragon, generally showed himself to be a top level rally driver. In addition to this, he was one of the team that tested and developed the new Lancer Evolution in 1992. This experience paid off handsomely when he won the two events of the 1994 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship, and 1995 Swedish Rally, Rally Australia and Rally of Malaysia within .
