#1 sprigging, same method that Wedgewood used. Thin mold applied to the piece.

#2 coated with blue/green engobe, then molten wax is used to form the pattern, and non-waxed part is sponged off (that is why it is spotted). THen, when it is fired, the wax dissapears.
