Then it was time for everything to be painted. A cloudy sky was added first.

And this brown was added next. My train would appear to be emerging from that tunnel.

When everything was painted, the scenes came together well.

Michael's pelican sits in the foreground, while Mary attaches an informative sign below the Point Cabrillo lighthouse in the background.

The wine patron really looked like he was enjoying himself. How about that necktie?

The exhibit just before judging, with fenceposts, plants, flowers, product, signage and brochure rack. On the right, you can see Michael's red canoe being paddled downstream.

The Mendocino county display got a silver award, which was understandable, but still disappointing.

It really looked incredible, but it lacked the "oh cool!" factor... an effect or element that would make guests' eyeballs pop out.
